The soft and elastic material is vapour permeable, which supports the microclimate between the skin and surface interface, reducing the pressure injury risk factor of moisture.
Shear is one of the leading known causes for pressure injury development, enhanced in the bariatric population. The Optimal 5zon® Plus has numerous shear reduction features, including the ability to absorb shear forces within the dual-layered fully detached foam construct, and additionally, the anti-shear stockings doubling to protect the foam longevity. Lastly, the 4-way stretch cover assists in reducing both shear and friction at the surface user interface.
